Elections
I didn't ever expect to be paying attention to the Israeli elections. I am not going as far as with the US ones, no getting up at 5am to see what happened. Or staying up nearly as all night with our elections. I love it when I am able to do that. Twitter is my best source of info.
German daily diary
I have written one for H, to show him how I do this for my Arabic. I explained how just using German means he can read it back and practise the words he knows that way.
Then I explained how he can have a small dictionary of just the words like heute and ich bin which he might want to use each time he writes about his day.
My 3 years of effort are being condensed into 5 mins of tips for him. Mothering in a nutshell...
No Traces
Since H has started at LVS I have stopped making home ed notes. There is no record of the sort I used to create. It is a loss to have no perspective on what has happened since Sept 2014. I am disconnected from a process which I used to be part of and carefully observant of. How easily I drift away from a previous way of living. I wonder how other home ed families experience the moving on phase?

Playing around with numbers and the words H knows
Sitting in the car, about to go into Sainsbury's.:
Ich werde Sainsbury's kaufen!
Ich werde ins Sainsbury's das (Shampoo), ein Hund, ein Brot und zwoelf Autos kaufen!
In the car on the way back:
Ich habe zwoelf Freunden, zwoelf Autos, zwoelf Haenden und zwoelf Fuessen!
On hearing that he won't take the shampoo out of the car with him...I have to do it...
Du bist siebzehn Jahre alt, aber Du bist ein Kind!
I am shocked, still as shocked as last time I wrote this, that we can say so much after such a short time. I seriously need someone funny and off the wall to sit in the car with me and say these sorts of things to me in Arabic. This is so frustrating. I try to shoehorn Arabic into my chats with H, but he spots it a mile away, though he did listen to me discussing how to say I love you in German and also in Arabic. That got through.

Brush up your German
If you click on 'Marksteine' on the right hand side of this page, you will see there is a webring with quite a few different German blogs devoted to Home Ed.
Schulpflicht and Schulzwang mean compulsory schooling.
Unerzogen and eine schulfreie Kindheit mean home schooled/unschooled and childhood without school respectively.
A great slogan: Der Schulzwang wird fallen wie die Berliner Mauer...Compulsory schooling will collapse like the Berlin Wall.
That's enough vocab for today!!
Don't worry if the sentences are too long and overwhelming, just skip to the start of the next paragraph, or read the slogans at the side.
Best wishes to the other rusty German speakers out there.
