That film is immensely strong. I can hear abad, forever. Words emerge and I sort of recognise them with the translation beneath. I can see how the English grammar does not match the Arabic, how could it, why should it? The gap between each language is the joy of knowledge. Recognising the mosaic on the front of the famous mosque and the hall within it, but nowhere else in the city. The poet's voice is his and his alone. Sometimes when I used to be able to get Radio Garden the stations would play recordings of him voice reciting his poems, instantly recognisable even to me.
